Data migration & rescue

Get your data out of the old system without losing any of it

Migration is the line item that quietly kills most software projects. We move years of records — from Tally, an abandoned system, a pile of spreadsheets or paper registers — into your new system, reconciled against the old one so you can prove nothing went missing.

For: Businesses changing software, stuck on a system nobody supports, or sitting on years of records in spreadsheets and registers

The problem we usually walk into

Every new-software quote treats migration as a footnote, then it turns out the old system has no export, the ledger does not reconcile, three spreadsheets disagree about the same customer, and ten years of bills exist only on paper. The project stalls there, and the team quietly keeps using the old system.

What's included

  • Get the data out at all

Exports where they exist; direct database extraction where they do not; OCR where the records are only on paper or in scanned PDFs.

  • Clean and de-duplicate

The same customer spelled four ways, merged into one, with a record of every decision so it can be reviewed.

  • Reconcile against the old system

Opening balances, ledger totals and stock counts matched to the source. If a number does not tie out, you hear about it from us, not from your auditor.

  • Tally in and out

Push and pull with Tally so accounts stop re-typing what operations already entered.

  • Paper and scanned records

Old registers and bills digitised through the same OCR pipeline we use for regional-language documents.

  • Run both in parallel

A period where old and new run side by side and are compared daily, so you switch off the old system knowing rather than hoping.

How we work

In this order, because each step depends on the one before it.

  1. Step 1

    Survey the sources

Every system, spreadsheet and register that holds something you need, and what condition each is in.

  2. Step 2

    Trial migration

One month or one branch of real data migrated end to end, so problems surface early and cheaply.

  3. Step 3

    Reconcile and sign off

You verify balances and counts against the old system before we go any further.

  4. Step 4

    Full migration and parallel run

Everything moved, both systems compared daily, then the old one retired on a date you choose.

Questions we get asked

Our old software has no export option. Is the data stuck?
Almost never. Most systems store data in a database we can read directly, and where they do not, reports can be printed to PDF and read back with OCR. We assess yours before quoting.
Can you migrate out of Tally, or only into it?
Both. We also leave Tally in place for accounting and integrate with it, which is the right answer more often than replacing it.
How do we know nothing was lost?
Reconciliation is the deliverable, not an afterthought. You get opening balances, ledger totals, customer counts and stock figures compared line by line against the old system, and you sign off before we proceed.
What about ten years of paper bills?
That is document digitisation, which is our core capability — 70,000 scanned PDFs into 10 lakh+ structured records on one project. We can scope paper separately so you only digitise what you will actually search.
